| Last, but not least: Lucerne -- |

| concluding our time well spent in Switzerland last weekend. |

| All four of us liked Lucerne very much. The locals were friendly. |

| But with the lack of winter sunshine working against us, we had to be quick. |

| John saw to it that we hit at least two of the places on my must-see list. |

first: Löwendenkmal -- the Lion Monument, which Mark Twain called "the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world". |

| And then also: Kapellbrücke --
a wooden covered pedestrian bridge
that links the old town with the new town across the Reuss River.
